 ClaroRead SE speaks back text as it is typed, allowing a user to check and proofread work quickly and easily. Text can be spoken at any point by highlighting individual sections of text and pressing the Play button great for proofreading.

It is possible to convert any text into an audio file with a high-quality voice. These files can then be uploaded to a music player such as an iPhone, iPod Touch and Nano, Nokia, Android and Walkman phones. The files can also be listened back to using Media Player Software such as iTunes. It is quick and easy to do, allowing documents and web pages to be taken on the move.
  • Save selected text as a WMA, WAV or OGG audio file.
  • Audio files can be uploaded to iPod or iPhone.

 

For some features to work, you may need an extension for Office, Word or a browser such as Chrome or Edge etc.



Check ClaroRead Settings:
  • Ensure the "Show Homophones" option is enabled in ClaroRead's settings.
     
  • Verify that the "Check Homophones" feature is activated.
     
  • In Word, you can also use the "Show Homophones" option to highlight all homophones in the current paragraph.
     
2. Restart ClaroRead and/or your Computer:
  • Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.
     
3. Reinstall ClaroRead:
  • If the problem is persistent, consider reinstalling ClaroRead to ensure a clean installation.
     
4. Check for Conflicts:
  • ClaroRead might conflict with other speech recognition software like Dragon NaturallySpeaking. If you are using such software, try disabling it temporarily to see if it resolves the issue.
  • Other Add-ins:
    Other add-ins or extensions in Microsoft Word might also cause conflicts. 
    Try disabling them temporarily to see if ClaroRead's homophone checker works.
     
5. Check for Updates:
  • Ensure that both ClaroRead and Microsoft Word are up to date.
     
6. Check for SAPI5 Issues:
  • SAPI5 is the speech system used by ClaroRead. If it's corrupted, it can cause issues. 
    You can try reinstalling SAPI5 or re-registering the sapi.dll file, according to Texthelp.
     
7. If using Word, try "Repair":
  • In Word, you can try repairing the installation. Go to "File > Account > Office Updates > Update Options > Repair".
  • If "Quick Repair" doesn't work, try "Online Repair".
     
8. Consider a "Clean Boot":
  • If you suspect a conflict with another program, you can perform a "Clean Boot" to start Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. 
    This can help isolate the problematic program, according to Microsoft.
     
9. Contact ClaroRead Support:
  • If none of the above steps work, you can contact ClaroRead support for further assistance.
