My DSA awarded laptop gets very hot.

This can mean mean physically or the processor/internal temps.

If physically, again this is pretty standard. If you can hold a hand/finger to it and not get burnt manufacturers will take that as being "normal" in most cases.

As per Microsofts own website:

Your device may feel warm during normal use. It complies with temperature limits defined by the International Standards for Safety* and is rated for operation at +32°F (+0°C) to +95°F (+35°C).

In addition to this, technically, a Laptop can allow the processor/internal temp to reach as high as 212f/100c.

If the temperatures do exceed these limits, we can take a look at the laptop/pass it back to the manufacturer.
