How to setup a bluetooth headset or device in Windows and enable usage in app(s) or change privacy/security settings.


To connect a Bluetooth headset to Windows, first ensure your headset is in pairing mode and that Bluetooth is enabled on your computer. Then, go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices, select "Add Bluetooth or other device", choose Bluetooth, and select your headset from the list. If prompted, enter the PIN for your headset. 

Ensure Bluetooth is Enabled: Open Settings, go to Devices > Bluetooth & other devices, and make sure the Bluetooth switch is turned on. 
Put Headset in Pairing Mode: Refer to your headset's manual for instructions on how to put it in pairing mode (usually involves holding a button). 
Open Bluetooth & other devices: In Settings, click on Devices > Bluetooth & other devices. 
Add a Device: Click "Add Bluetooth or other device". 
Choose Bluetooth: Select "Bluetooth" from the options. 
Select Your Headset: Your computer will search for nearby Bluetooth devices. Select your headset from the list that appears. 
Pair and Connect: Follow any on-screen instructions. You may need to enter a PIN if prompted. 
Check Sound Settings: After pairing, ensure your sound output is set to your Bluetooth headset in Settings > System > Sound. 

For some apps, Dragon, Teams, Zoom etc it may be necessary to enable access for these apps to your headset/mic/headphone and further enable/disable or modify privacy settings.

before trying any of these, make sure any physical switch on the headset/camera/microphone is set to on/open and nay "peels" removed.

To enable your microphone in Windows, first navigate to Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone. 


There may be additional privacy settings/ways to accidentally disable your microphone or camera deeper into windows settings, in/within or near the name my device/microphone or camera settings.

To change the name of your microphone in Windows, navigate to Settings > System > Sound > More sound settings > Double-click the audio device to rename it and check for additional security/privacy settings where your device(s) may be disabled.

Open Settings: Click the Start menu, then select Settings. 
Navigate to Sound: Go to System > Sound. 
Access More Sound Settings: Click on "More sound settings".
