How to install and activate your DSA awarded mindgenius software.

When you install and sign up for MindGenius, the activation and license management is handled after installation

Trial & License Activation

MindGenius 20 or AI (Latest Version) – Free 14-Day Trial

Download the current Windows desktop version. No credit card required. Includes AI features and full functionality.

MindGenius 20 Perpetual = Version 9.0.1, or if your key/ license begins YG100TM or YG99SSU you may need to contact Mindgenius if there is an issue with your key.

Archive Versions

Access installers for older MindGenius desktop releases (2019, 2018, etc.), including Business/Education variants and Viewer editions.

MindGenius Online (Browser-Based)

Start a trial of the online version (fully featured, 14-day trial, no credit card).

  • 14‑day free trial
    After installation, MindGenius opens with a splash screen showing your remaining trial days (14 days total). 

  • Activating your license
    At any time during or after the trial, click
    Activate in the splash screen. You’ll be prompted to enter:

    • Your name
    • License Number (formatted like YG70TM‑123456‑987654321)
      Then click
      Activate to proceed.
  • Online (automatic) activation
    The software connects to the MindGenius server to validate the key and unlock full functionality. You must be online/connected to the Internet.

  • Firewall issues/manual activation
    If your firewall blocks automatic activation, use the
    Activate option which guides you through offline/manual activation. You'll need to contact support for assistance (via email or phone). Note manual activation isn't available for subscription-based licenses.

 If Activation Fails

  • Check your firewall or proxy settings—ensure MindGenius can reach activation servers.
  • Re-enter your license number carefully.
  • For offline/manual activation, you'll need to contact MindGenius support.

MindGenius Licence Keys (Mac vs Windows)

Why your key may not work on a different device

MindGenius provides separate licence keys for Windows and Mac. These keys are not interchangeable, and each version activates using a different system.

If you try to use a Windows key on a Mac (or vice‑versa), the software will not activate.

Why the keys are different

  • MindGenius for Windows and MindGenius for Mac are separate products

  • Each uses a different activation server

  • Keys are platform‑specific

  • A single key cannot activate both versions

If you’ve changed device or need the other version

If you now have a different type of computer, MindGenius can usually reissue a replacement key for the correct platform.

This is normal for DSA students and is supported by MindGenius.

How to request a replacement key

Students, assessors, or suppliers can contact MindGenius directly:

Include:

  • Your name

  • Your original licence key (if known)

  • The email address used when the licence was issued

  • Whether you now need a Mac or Windows key

  • A brief note that this is a DSA‑funded licence and you have changed device

MindGenius should verify the licence and issue the correct key.
