How to Activate your XMind Pro DSA awarded software.

1. Check your registered Email Address for an xmind email.

Most Xmind software awarded via DSA WILL NOT be sent via an email invite for a subscription. Skip to step 2.

If you have an email, Ship note or similar that mention Xmind, alongside other software, this is most likely NOT THE LATEST XMIND VERSION, most students will use the method listed below, for Xmind 8 or Xmind 8 Pro.
We may activate XMind Pro using your registered email address. If so, the license is tied to that address, not any of your devices.

  • A license key AND a link to a specific URL

  • A redeem link that auto‑activates the subscription

The sender is usually something like:

  • XMind

  • XMind Support

  • NOT Unleashed, NAV or Study Tech

If you don’t see it, check:

  • Spam/Junk

  • “Updates” or “Promotions” tabs

  • Any forwarding rules

  • Try a password reset, in case it was preactivated.

If you do get an email invite/an email about or from Xmind directly, you likely have the Subscription/latest model of Xmind.

Most students should skip to step 2 though, unless they specifically see an email as listed above.

2. Install XMind

If you have Xmind 8/another version listed, use these links.

Xmind 8 or 8 pro have no Subscription based elements, if you have been provided a key for those versions it will state Xmind 8 or 8 Pro.

If your award is an Xmind Subscription/Xmind 202x, download the latest version of Xmind from the Xmind website.

Choose the correct version for Windows or macOS, either way.

3. Sign In or Activate

Once installed:

If you received a license key

  1. Open XMind

  2. Go to XMind → Activate (macOS) or Help → Activate (Windows and Mac)

  3. Enter the licence key

  4. Restart your PC

  1. Click the link

  2. It will open XMind’s account page

  3. Sign in or create an XMind account

  4. The Pro subscription will attach to that account

  5. Open XMind and sign in with the same account

4. Confirm Activation

Inside XMind:

  • Go to Account

  • It should show XMind Pro or XMind Pro Subscription Active

🎓 Does XMind 8 Pro support DSA subscriptions?

This is the part that trips people up.

No — XMind 8 Pro does not use the modern XMind subscription system (including DSA licensing).

Why:

  • XMind 8 Pro uses license keys, not cloud-based subscriptions.

  • Modern XMind plans (Free, Pro, Premium) are for XMind 2020 / XMind for Desktop, not XMind 8.

  • The XMind Help Center only describes subscription activation for the current app, not XMind 8.

  • XMind 8 Pro is still sold as a standalone license, not a subscription.

Implication for DSA (Disabled Student Allowance):

If your DSA supplier provides XMind subscription codes, those apply to XMind (modern) — not XMind 8. If they provide XMind 8 Pro license keys, those activate only XMind 8.

So the coverage depends entirely on what your DSA award specifies:
