Dragon, Naturally speaking, should always be trained using a headset. If Dragon uses the internal Laptop Mic in a quiet environment from roughly a foot away, it will still work twice as hard as with a headset. If you are two foot away thats twice as hard, if in a non quiet environment 3 times as hard at one foot etc.
This will eat up system resources and ensure that Dragon has a completely different voice profile/will be inaccurate if using a headset on a meeting etc.
Optimising and training Dragon NaturallySpeaking can significantly improve its accuracy and efficiency. Here are some tips to help you get the best performance:
Follow Dictation Guidelines: Speak in complete phrases and sentences to provide more context. This helps Dragon understand your speech patterns better.
Position Your Microphone Properly: Ensure your microphone is about an inch from your mouth and slightly to the side. This reduces background noise and improves recognition.
Make Corrections: Correct any mistakes Dragon makes. This helps it learn from its errors and improves future accuracy.
Save Your User Profile: Regularly save your user profile to retain any corrections and training you’ve done.
Train Dragon: Use the training tools provided by Dragon to teach it your pronunciation of specific words and phrases.
Adjust Speed vs. Accuracy: You can tweak this setting to balance between faster response times and higher accuracy.
Use Automatic Formatting: Enable automatic formatting for dates, numbers, and other common text types to streamline your workflow.
Import Custom Vocabulary: If you frequently use specific jargon or names, import a list of these words to improve recognition.
Learn from Documents and Emails: Allow Dragon to analyze your documents and sent emails to adapt to your writing style and vocabulary.
Run Accuracy Tuning: Periodically run accuracy tuning to refine your user profile based on your dictation history.
