How to install and use our Canon DSA awarded printer/multifunction device Study Tech Printer TR3750i

How to install and use your Canon DSA awarded printer/multifunction device.

Printer Setup – Start here

If you have the older 2024 supplied TR4750i or the newer Tr4755i just start from here.

FOR THE SIMPLEST  WINDOWS SETUP or if you have an ARM64 device/windows install seems to fail, try the Canon app from the Microsoft store.

For MAC use the EOS utility for scanning, most canon printers will be detected by a wired USB A connection with a USB C adapter, dock  or hub.

The starter ink supplied with a printer may do as little as 10 pages in some instances.

You can find ink for the TR4755i and the older tr4750i,  Canon number ink 575 for black and 576 for colour on Amazon or Argos and they can be bought from most retailers. Be sure the listing mentions your printer model before purchase/ensure you .

For the TS5150, use Canon ink number 540 for Black and 541 for colour.  They can be found on Amazon or Argos and they can be bought from most retailers. Be sure the listing mentions your printer model before purchase/ensure you are buying the right ink.

For the MG2551S, use Canon ink number 545 for Black and 546 for colour.  They can be found on Amazon or Argos and they can be bought from most retailers. Be sure the listing mentions your printer model before purchase/ensure you are buying the right ink.

To clean a Canon MFD, perform a print head cleaning from the printer's maintenance menu or the Canon IJ Printer Assistant Tool, which can clear clogged nozzles and improve print quality.

If a standard cleaning doesn't work, use the "Deep Cleaning" function, but be aware it consumes more ink. To perform a physical cleaning, gently clean the auto document feeder (ADF) and exterior surfaces with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.

Performing a Cleaning Cycle
Turn on: the printer.
On the printer's display, select Setup (the gear icon).
Select Maintenance: (the tool icon) and press OK.
Select Cleaning: and press OK to start the print head cleaning.
Wait: about a minute for the process to complete.
Print a Nozzle Check Pattern: to verify the quality. If lines are missing, run a second cleaning, or a deep cleaning.

Deep Cleaning
Follow the same steps: as a regular cleaning, but instead of selecting "Cleaning," select "Deep Cleaning".
Be aware: that deep cleaning uses more ink.
Manual Cleaning (Advanced)
Turn off: and unplug the printer.
Open the printer: and remove the ink cartridges.
Remove the printhead: assembly.
Use warm, distilled water: to gently clean the print head nozzles, being careful not to wet the green and gold electrical contacts.
Soak the print head: in water for several hours or overnight, then dry it carefully with paper.
Reassemble: the printer, insert the ink cartridges, and run a few test prints to check the quality.

Physical Cleaning
Turn off and unplug: the printer before cleaning.
Use a soft, clean, dry, and lint-free cloth to wipe down the exterior surfaces and the ADF.

Failing that try new ink.

Setup
We always recommend using a USB A to B cable in most instances, another example from Amazon. We will not troubleshoot any Wifi or Bluetooth issue if a wired connection is not first shown as working.

In most instances, we will flat out NOT TROUBLESHOOT A WIFI ISSUE ANYWAY, especially if a wired via USB connection works. Sharing a printer can be a way around this issue, but again is dependant heavily on teh network type/managed wifi may just not work.

Then skip to step 6 below. Be sure to remove all tape and inserts before plugging in your printer.

1, Go to the above webpage, then click the Set Up (Start Here) button.

2, You can either enter your printer model number or search using the (First letters of the product name).

3, Once you have selected your printer model, click the “Start >” button as seen in the example below.

4, Follow the instructional video, then click on the right arrow to go to the next step (highlighted below).

5, Once you have followed all the printer preparation videos, click the “2 Connect >” button as highlighted below.

6, Finally once you have followed all the printer preparation videos, you will need to Download and run the

Software to start setup on your computer and follow the on-screen instructions.

Note: If you are connecting the printer to your Wi-Fi, it’s not unusual for the software not to find the printer on the

first attempt. Re-run the scan for printers again and it fails to find the printer again, it will give you some

additional options. One of these options will be to temporarily connect the printer via a USB cable. This option

will send your Wi-Fi setting to the printer via the connected USB cable and once finished it will prompt you to

             disconnect the cable.

ARM64 Installation.
If you see this error message or similar when trying to install the canon driver:

image.png

If your system is Arm64 based, the USB connection will work but the "normal" Canon driver/install will not.

The Canon driver for most printers will not install/work on a ARM64 based architecture. The easiest "fix" is to install CANON Print from the Microsoft Store.

Once the USB connection is up and running/the full printer setup process is then followed,  adding the printer via wifi should be possible.

However, the "normal" Canon software will not run/even if it does it contains no arm64 driver. So CANON Print may be your only option for printing and scanning.

Please take a look here at the Canon website, if in doubt try installing the most similar sounding printer, for example the driver for the Canon TR4700 is the same as the one for the 4750i, is the same for the 4755 is the same for the 4500.

If your system is not ARM64 based, the printer, via USB should be plug and play on "normal" Windows 10 or 11.

You do not need the Canon PRINT app to install ink cartridges; you can manually install them by opening the printer's access door, waiting for the carriage to move, and inserting the new cartridges. However, the Canon PRINT app is a helpful companion tool that allows you to set up your printer, check ink levels, print, scan, and manage cloud services, offering a more streamlined experience, especially for Wi-Fi printers.
Manual Ink Installation Steps
Prepare the cartridge: Remove the new ink cartridge from its packaging. Do not touch the electrical contacts or print heads.
Open the printer: Open the printer's cartridge access door or cover to allow the carriage to move to the center.
Wait for movement: Wait for the carriage that holds the ink cartridges to move to a position where you can access them.
Remove the old cartridge: Gently press the tab on the empty cartridge to release it, then carefully pull it out of its slot.
Insert the new cartridge: Place the new cartridge into the correct slot, ensuring it's the correct color for that position.
Secure the cartridge: Push the new cartridge in until it clicks and locks into place.
Close the printer: Close the printer's cover. The printer should then recognize the new ink cartridge.
