Be sure to remove all tape and inserts before plugging in your printer.
1, Go to the above webpage, then click the Set Up (Start Here) button.
2, You can either enter your printer model number or search using the (First letters of the product name).
3, Once you have selected your printer model, click the “Start >” button as seen in the example below.
4, Follow the instructional video, then click on the right arrow to go to the next step (highlighted below).
5, Once you have followed all the printer preparation videos, click the “2 Connect >” button as highlighted below.
6, Finally once you have followed all the printer preparation videos, you will need to Download and run the
Software to start setup on your computer and follow the on-screen instructions.
Note: If you are connecting the printer to your Wi-Fi, it’s not unusual for the software not to find the printer on the
first attempt. Re-run the scan for printers again and it fails to find the printer again, it will give you some
additional options. One of these options will be to temporarily connect the printer via a USB cable. This option
will send your Wi-Fi setting to the printer via the connected USB cable and once finished it will prompt you to
disconnect the cable.
A verified workaround from Canon’s own community shows that Xerox’s ARM64 Global Print Driver (PCL6) works with Canon printers — including TR models — because they share similar print engines.

Windows allows you to manually bind that driver to a Canon printer
Steps (from Canon Community):
Add printer → “The printer I want isn’t listed.”
“My printer is older, help me find it.” If the printer searches, and finds the canon, continue to step 4, if it does not, jump to alternate setup below.
When detected (it can take a while), choose Have Disk.
Browse to the extracted Xerox ARM64 driver folder.
Select the x3UNIVX.INF file, inside the folder starting "UNIV".
Install the Xerox PCL6 driver, if given the option, you can rename it Canon etc.
