DSA awarded Autocorrect key/license not working

My license key for Claro Autocorrect is not working for my DSA awarded Autocorrect software.

The newer/current install system.

As of July 2024 Autocorrect is now a part of/included with Claro software in most instances. If you have one of these software that (includes autocorrect) it may be necessary to uninstall every software and add in/on (Claro read can install up to 15). Before then reinstalling all again,  before installing Autocorrect in order to get the license to apply to Autocorrect. Even one missed can lead to the license not applying, and not all are directly labeled Claro, eg Claro ideas, though the company name for all should be Claro, TextHelp or Everway.

This is especially important if the key checker was not used/may not have been used/you did not directly install your Claro/Everway software. Any module left over from an install that is a non (includes Autocorrect) install can "block" Autocorrect activation, in addition, when using the installer it is important to make sure you select complete installation, not typical or custom. Also use the latest Autocorrect installer once sure all Claro is installed and activated/has been used at least once.

If the issue of a key/license/code being needed to install Autocorrect persists after a full install of the parent software, using the key checker and being sure to copy/paste your key for that software and/or ensure the  key is in ALL CAPS, see below.

Install Autocorrect.... correctly

RESTART BEFORE INSTALLING AUTOCORRECT

The below has been confirmed by our trainers to work in most instances, though if the functionality is included with the program, it may be unnecessary.

To start, please ensure your text-to-speech product is installed FIRST, using the key checker. AutoCorrect comes "bundled" with Read&Write, writing helper, ClaroRead and/or other TextHelp or Everway software, so please ensure these are fully installed and activated using the key checker on the device before attempting to install AutoCorrect.

RESTART BETWEEN EVERY INSTALL/UNINSTALL BEFORE INSTALLING AUTOCORRECT

Once your text-to-speech software is installed, you can then follow this link to install AutoCorrect. You shouldn't need the product code at this point; your computer should pick up the licence through Read&Write/ClaroRead.

The same applies if you are installing OrbitNote, please ensure the text-to-speech products are installed and then install OrbitNote here.

Examples where Autocorrect may be included within another software include but are not limited to:

ClaroRead
ClaroRead SE
ClaroPDF
ClaroView bundle
Read&Write
ScreenRuler
Writing Helper
TextHelp

Your DSA2/Quote/Order will include a line similar to:

Read&Write (Includes AutoCorrect) PC/Mac

If you have been awarded Autocorrect bundled with/inside another software.

Pre2024 old install

DSA/SLC, instead of doubling the software have stuck with one of the above only in most instances.

If a Trainer or Assessor advises this is not the case, or that Tech Support can help, over and above trying the above workaround they are mistaken.

They or any Student/yourself can reach out to Claro/Everway, who now owns the software, to confirm this or simply use the Claro key checker to see what their key can license.

If you are awarded the standalone version, which is extremely unlikely, it will clearly state Autocorrect alone on your order/DSA2/Quote etc.

Other known issues with Claro/TextHelp or Everway licensing.

In Very rare instances, where your Uni or College has a site license/also givers you Texthelp, Everway or Claro software via  site license or similar (your school email address will appear in the licensing/about section of the app or extension), if Autocorrect is not included in that site license it will not activate.

The quickest way around this, is to create a new user profile, install or licence your X includes autocorrect software again using your license key and its key checker. Then following the autocorrect setup instructions as below on that new user. After a final restart, Autocorrect may then run on your original profile, but the "new" profile will need to remain on the machine. it can be password protected and/or never used, but it must remain on the machine.

Another issue, can be an older key/a previous awarded Claro or TextHelp key being on the system, with no bundled autocorrect, which has expired etc.

In addition, a key not applied using the correct/ bundled downloads/keychecker may improperly format the key, not in ALL caps, with a space etc which the "parent" software will accept, while Autocorrect will not.

In either case using the Claro support toolkit to check, remove and/or apply a new license is your best bet.

With the toolkit: You must extract the zipped archive/folder before use. If you run the individual programs, from in the zip, you will not get any accurate results.

The programs to use are:

GetClaroLicenceKeys
Displays all licence keys installed on this machine so you can transfer them to another machine or log into ClaroRead Cloud.
If your license does not appear in all caps, or does not match the licence provided by Study Tech/your supplier then try:
Licence Key Changer
Change the licence key for ClaroRead and other Claro programs installed on Windows. Will most likely fail, but worth a try.
Claro Unlicenser
Use the unlicencing program to remove a licence from a computer when transferring your Claro software to a new computer.
This more than likely will fail, or appear to fail anyway. That is fine but it should still be tried, after that try the GetClaroLicenceKeys again, if they now say no keys, success.

If the above still does not help, to check for connection issues:

ClaroLicenceServerTest
Checks your connection to the Claro Software licencing server.
Once the above are done/tried, if Autocorrect or a Claro or TextHelp program still has issues, first reinstall using the correct method/the key checker and a copy pasted key before proceeding as below.

Please see this article from Claro/TextHelp here. Then follow the process/suggested workaround as above.

After that, maybe see if you can view the key in the about section/apple icon. If it does not match

With the Autocorrect issue, we have had differing info from Claro so are unsure what to suggest outside of any tips in this article usually.

To uninstall Claro apps and reset their settings on a Mac, you'll use the ClaroRead Uninstaller application, found in the Applications/Utilities folder. This tool allows you to uninstall all Claro apps and voices, reset their settings, and reset Claro license keys. If an app is causing issues, you can also try force quitting it (Option + Command + Esc) or manually removing it by dragging it to the Trash.

Here's how to use the ClaroRead Uninstaller:
1. Open the ClaroRead Uninstaller:
Navigate to Applications/Utilities and open the ClaroRead Uninstaller.app.
2. Follow the instructions:
The uninstaller will guide you through the process of uninstalling all Claro apps, resetting settings, or resetting license keys.
3. Manually remove the app if necessary:
If the uninstaller doesn't fully remove the app, you can try manually removing it from the Applications folder and clearing related files.
4. Restart your Mac:
After uninstalling and clearing related files, it's a good idea to restart your Mac to ensure all changes are applied.

Then follow the install instructions as covered in the article/according to Claro/TextHelp.

However, again as we have had conflicting info we can offer nothing more in support really/have to then kick it back to Claro/Texthelp.
